Space Maintainers and Retainers
Space Maintainers and Retainers
Space maintainers encourage normal development of permanent teeth.
Just the right amount of space.
Space maintainers are metal or plastic appliances custom fit to your child’s mouth to hold open the empty space left by a lost baby tooth. This helps prevent movement until the permanent tooth takes its natural position.
Recognizing these kinds of problems early allows us to keep them from becoming more serious later. Some baby teeth are not replaced until a child is 14 years old, so a space maintainer can help prevent future dental and orthodontic problems.
