Many oral health problems go unnoticed until they become painful, if a child doesn’t get regular dental check-ups.
According to a 2024 CDC report:
- 11% of children ages 2–5 untreated cavities in the U.S.
- 18% of children ages 6–8 suffer untreated cavities in their primary teeth.
- 49% of children have experienced tooth decay, fillings, or missing teeth by age 9.
Parents can be better role models by practicing good dental hygiene alongside their children.
Communities can help parents and families by educating them on the importance of oral health and providing resources to help them establish healthy habits at home.
